THERAPY 2000 provides services under EPSDT Comprehensive Care Program. Proposed budget cuts threaten to shut down pediatric and community home care Medicaid programs which would cause massive employee layoffs and drive home care clients/patients to expensive hospitals, emergency rooms and nursing homes for care. Call and Email your representatives and members of the House Appropriations Committee and Senate Finance Committee Subcommittee on Medicaid. You can find the members of the committees in the TAHCH Advocacy Kit. You can find your representatives by clicking on the Who Represents Me? button. Urge them to oppose cuts to home care:

The full House Appropriations Committee is considering the HB1 Appropriations Bill. The Senate Finance Committee, Subcommittee on Medicaid is currently considering Article II (Health and Human Services portion) of the SB 1 Appropriations Bill. Below is helpful information to know.

  • Home care saves the state money by serving the elderly, disabled, and medically fragile children in their homes at a fraction of hospital and nursing home costs!!

  • The cuts in the budget bill will put home care providers out of business, force layoffs, and drive the elderly, disabled and medically fragile children into costly institutional care!!

  • Home care agencies are severely under-funded now based on HHSC funding methodology:

Program % Cut:
HB 1/SB 1
% Currently
Under-Funded
Primary Home Care 30% 7.92%
Community Based Alternatives 37% 9%
Community Attendant Services 28% 7.9%
CLASS 26% 8.9%
EPSDT Comp. Care Program 28% 11.2%
