Monica DavilaIn October 2001, Monica Davila, Assistant SLP, started working as bilingual support staff for THERAPY 2000. In December 2006, she graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas with a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Monica is one of our many success stories.

"I had been in and out of college since high school," Monica said, "and I really had not find my niche, I had not find a major that really interested me. I had tried Marketing, Journalism but none of them kept my interest for long."

Languages, learning about how the brain works and hearing THERAPY 2000's therapists talk about treatments and patients, peaked an interest in the field of Speech-Language pathology for Monica.

Currently working with patients as a Speech Therapist Assistant, Monica said she feels excited and a little nervous being a new therapist. She likes being able to make her own hours while accommodating the parent's needs. She also said it's a little nerve wrecking trying to remember everything she learned.

"[But] I feel very well supported in this company," Monica said. "I feel so comfortable to go see these kids and know that if I have a question I can call someone."

The emphasis on continuing education, that the company makes sure the therapists are providing good, quality service, a good support system and a friendly environment to communicate with others, are some of the qualities Monica likes about working with THERAPY 2000.

Monica plans to go to graduate school in the fall to earn her "CCCs" and become a Speech Language Pathologist. She said that the support and words of encouragements she receives at home have kept her going.

"Be patient because it's not going to happen overnight," explains Monica about going back to school. "At the end when you're done, you almost can't believe that you got there but you got there."
