Using Assessment to Guide Intervention in Developing Linguistic Competence in AAC.

AAC services are often coordinated by speech-language pathologists with varying levels of knowledge about AAC. This presentation will explore important aspects of AAC teams in ongoing assessment with an emphasis on team roles and responsibilities, developing performance profiles, and implementing a comprehensive, evidence-based intervention plan and developing linguistic competence for individuals who use AAC.

About the presenter: Tracy M. Kovach, PhD, CCC-SLP

Dr. Kovach has 30+ years supporting individuals using AAC systems. She directed AAC services at The Children’s Hospital (Denver) and is associate professor at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. Dr. Kovach developed and directed the Talking with Technology Camp for 25 years. She is the author of “The AAC Profile: A Continuum of Learning”. She has worked in public schools, clinics and in private practice where she continues to serve children with complex communication needs.
