Description: This course will explore common visual disorders therapists encounter in the pediatric population.  It will look at the various service providers of these low vision/blind children, discuss their roles. In addition, the training will provide insight into how to guide evaluations, therapy sessions, and caregiver education.

Objectives:

Participants will be able to:

  1. identify common pediatric visual impairments.
  2. identify strategies to use in a therapy session with a child who has a visual impairment.
  3. describe the differences between low vision and blindness.
  4. describe the roles various services providers have when interacting with families of children with visual impairments.
