Description:

AAC is complex! Join us for a session that helps therapists chart their course along the AAC journey. Through lecture and case studies, participants will receive an introduction to different types of AAC, access methods, as well as feature matching. Participants will have the opportunity to utilize decision making support to apply skills learned and determine the AAC needs of an individual. Skills learned will enable participants to make best-practice decisions within AAC assessment and support.

Objectives:

Following this session, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe which patients are ready to begin with AAC
  2. List 3 types of AAC and access methods
  3. Identify 3 areas that are critical for feature matching a patient to an appropriate AAC system
