Taylor Ackerman is a Speech-Language Pathologist located in San Antonio, Texas. She received her M.S degree from Eastern New-Mexico University in Communication Science and Disorders. Taylor has worked in pediatrics since 2014, having spent a year working in geriatrics at a Skilled-Nursing Facility. Taylor loves working with kids of all ages and has found a love for AAC in recent years. She is passionate about helping little humans achieve communication success through accessibility to AAC and helping caregivers feel confident in implementing it.

Hey SLPs! Have you found yourself struggling to find the right assessment for your patients who need or already use AAC? Do you have difficulty navigating goal writing? If you answered yes to one or both of these questions, this course is for you!
In this session, we will review assessment procedures for individuals who need access to AAC, as well as for those who are already AAC users. We will also address which assessment tools are most effective for patients at a variety of points in the AAC journey. Establishing meaningful and effective goals is a main priority; this course will also include a review of resources for goal writing.

Objectives:

Participants will be able to:

1. Describe initial evaluation and re-evaluation procedures for AAC
2. List 2 assessment tools for AAC
3.  Demonstrate ability to write 2 goals for AAC
