Baby Bridge – NICU Transition Program
The Baby Bridge NICU Transition Program facilitates a seamless move from hospital to home for high-risk and medically complex infants by providing feeding and movement therapies in the hospital and/or home settings.
Our team of licensed and credentialed specialists, including Occupational and Physical Therapists to support movement and development, and feeding specialists including Speech-Language Pathologists and Occupational Therapists bring deep clinical expertise directly into the environments where infants grow, eat, and thrive. Additionally, all therapists receive competency reviews on a regular basis to ensure the highest quality care for our patients and ongoing support for our therapists.
We work in close coordination with families and physicians to drive the progress each child needs. And, our team is supported by Dr. Brown’s Medical.
Our program emphasizes family education and hands-on guidance, empowering caregivers with essential knowledge and tools for post NICU care, ultimately enhancing infant health and family confidence.
Common areas addressed by our therapy team include:
Feeding Safety & Efficiency: Transitioning from tube feeding to oral feeding and improving suck-swallow-breathe coordination.
- Neuromotor Development: Supporting head control, symmetrical movement, and reaching early milestones like rolling or sitting.
Sensory & Self-Regulation: Helping infants manage environmental stimuli to improve sleep, calm, and alertness.
Bonding & Caregiver Education: Hands-on training for parents on therapeutic positioning and specialized feeding techniques.
Oral Motor Strength: Building the muscle tone necessary for successful bottle or breastfeeding.
Fine Motor Readiness: Early grasping, midline play, and hand-to-mouth exploration.
