✦ Spotlight on Our Team

Highlighting the staff that make a difference in both our company and the children and families we support.

Sloane Sims, CCC-SLP

Speech-Language Pathologist · Amarillo

Sloane is a speech-language pathologist who recently earned her Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) after spending her clinical fellowship year with Therapy 2000. As a new clinician, she knew the transition from graduate school to independent practice could feel overwhelming, but she quickly discovered she had an entire team behind her.

“"My case manager has been incredibly supportive, and collaborating with other therapists has made such a difference. I work closely with the same occupational therapist, and we're able to provide more coordinated care for our patients."”

Supported from the Start

"I've never felt like I was on my own," Sloane says. "My case manager has been incredibly supportive, and collaborating with other therapists has made such a difference. I work closely with the same occupational therapist, and we're able to provide more coordinated care for our patients."

For Sloane, home health was always the right fit because it allows her to support families where they're most comfortable. "You're helping families build communication into their everyday routines, and that's where real progress happens," she explains. She also appreciates the flexibility home health provides, allowing her to create a schedule that works for both her patients and her.

Diversity That Inspires Growth

One of the biggest surprises has been the diversity of the Amarillo community. "People don't always expect it, but there are families here from all over the world," she says. "Every family brings different cultures, experiences, and perspectives, and that's made me a better clinician. There are so many opportunities to grow because every patient teaches you something new."

Proud to Call West Texas Home

Having grown up in the area, Sloane was excited to return after college. She describes Amarillo as having "a big small-town feel," where relationships matter and collaboration comes naturally. She enjoys the close-knit community, spending time outdoors at nearby Palo Duro Canyon, and taking advantage of local traditions, from Route 66 attractions and museums to football games and rodeos.

When asked what stands out most about living and working in West Texas, her answer is simple: "The community is what makes it."

For clinicians looking to begin their careers, Sloane believes West Texas offers something special: the opportunity to build confidence, grow alongside experienced mentors, and make a meaningful impact in a community that truly values pediatric therapy.
