Zoey is a speech-language therapist who began her career with Therapy 2000 after completing her externship with the company. Originally from a town of just 500 people, Zoey has always appreciated the close-knit communities that make West Texas feel like home. Two years later, she's still building her career with the team that first welcomed her.
Support from the Start
"My supervisor is one of the biggest reasons I love home health," Zoey says. "She took the time to teach me the ins and outs and has always been there when I needed support. Even though we don't all see each other every day, we're a really close team."
As a newer clinician, Zoey values having experienced colleagues who are always willing to collaborate. "We have so many great people here," she says. "Everyone is eager to share ideas, answer questions, and help each other grow. You never feel like you're figuring things out on your own."
A Career that Fits Your Life
What she loves most about pediatric home health is working alongside families and celebrating progress together. "No two children are alike, and even the same child is different from one visit to the next," she says. "I love that parents get to see those little wins happen right in front of them. When families experience those moments with you, they're excited to keep using those strategies between visits."
The flexibility of home health has also been a major advantage. "Making my own schedule is amazing," Zoey says. "You can build a schedule that fits your life while still giving your patients the care they need. You're rewarded for the work you put in, and that work-life balance is hard to beat."
At Home in West Texas
For Zoey, West Texas offers the same sense of community she grew up with, along with more opportunities to explore. She appreciates Amarillo's friendly atmosphere, short commutes, and relaxed pace of life. Whether she's enjoying an evening at the botanical gardens, listening to live music during June Jazz, cheering on the local baseball team, or grabbing a burger with friends after work, she enjoys a lifestyle where there's time to slow down and connect with the community.
For clinicians considering West Texas, Zoey believes the people make all the difference. "Everyone is genuinely friendly," she says. "From your coworkers to the families you serve, you feel supported. It's a great place to start your career, grow as a clinician, and enjoy life outside of work."
