Hi! My name is Kristi Powell and I am a Speech-Language Pathologist. I was born and raised in the (very) small town of Nazareth, Texas, and I currently live in Canyon, Texas. I work part time for THERAPY 2000 and Green Apple Therapy as the West Texas Division’s feeding team lead.
After earning my Master’s from West Texas A&M, I have spent the last 10 years of my career working in various settings with children and providing clinical supervision for master level students.
My passion in Speech Language Pathology is working with feeding patients and children on the spectrum. Since joining THERAPY 2000 and Green Apple Therapy, I have enjoyed how the in-home setting allows me to work one-on-one with each client and collaborate with caregivers to improve each child’s ability to interact with their surroundings in more developmentally-normative ways. In my opinion, there is no greater feeling than helping the parent of a tube-fed child feed their child for the first time. This simple task of working toward oral motor skill acquisition and sensory modulation makes such a HUGE difference in their lives able to feel their child could one day enjoy a meal with the family in some nature.
I am a single mom of an amazing 7-year-old boy who loves all things dinosaurs! He keeps me on my toes and frequently makes me wonder which one of us has a degree 😀. We love spending time with family, playing games, visiting, and sharing meals. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, shopping, and playing the piano. The flexibility of home health has allowed me to never miss a special occasion for my kid at school, which can be challenging as an only parent.
